Legislative/Community Relations Committee 

  • Take the lead on education of the legislature about the importance and impact of tourism on the state's economy including new and returning legislators

  • Take the lead on educating legislative candidates, before they are elected, in all areas represented by MACVB members
  • Develop a "talking points" section of the web site and hand out materials to help individual bureaus educate their candidates

  • Continue to interact with the Tourism Commission serving as liaison to the industry.  Insure MACVB representation at all Commission meetings*

  • Continue proactive approach to statewide races.  Develop a forum for the individuals running for Governor and Lt. Governor to establish a dialogue and impress the importance of tourism as an economic development tool.  Advocate

  • Encourage individual CVB's to share lobbyist information from their communities with all members.  Web site

  • Continue legislative relations with MTC, MAA, MRA and MHLA

  • Develop a relationship directly with the Department of Economic Development

  • Continue to participate in Capitol Day for Tourism and Savor the Flavor  

Professional Development (Education) Committee  

  • Annual MACVB Education Conference  

  • Develop different tracks for staff (i.e. convention sales)

  • Assist with developing a CVB track at the Governor's Conference (i.e. convention marketing, developing a local CVB, etc.)

  • Support and encourage staff training, not just CEO's

  • Continue hosting CDME course annually

  • Develop a mentoring program for new bureaus and or new directors of existing bureaus  

Marketing and Research Committee  

  • Explore establishing a state-wide research coop program where individual bureaus can buy into research already being conducted by the Division of Tourism

  • Investigate contracting for research as a group and dividing the cost by participating bureaus.

  • Monitor IACVB's research efforts

  • Conduct bi-annual comparative CVB research and distribute to members

  • Proactive involvement with the Division of Tourism serving on marketing and cooperative marketing committees

  • Become actively involved in assisting the Division of Tourism in developing the criteria used for determining which publications qualify for the Destination Marketing portion of the Cooperative Marketing Program

  • Establish a formal plan to serve as a clearing house for event funding requests which are made to the Division of Tourism

  • Actively participate in industry events which have a national or international impact which are being held in Missouri.  (i.e. Pow Wow, NTA, IACVB, etc.)  

Communications and Membership  

  • Establish allied memberships in MACVB.  Establish criteria and an allied committee to assist with allied member issues and education  

  • Establish and oversee an Intranet site on the MACVB web site for member information, meeting minutes, by-laws, etc.

  • On the Intranet site post information including lodging tax campaign materials, sample marketing plans, sample research methods, job descriptions, etc. for use by member bureaus.

  • Develop a relationship and dialogue with the Missouri Chamber of Commerce  

Product Development  

  • Develop a strong relationship with the Department of Economic Development to find out what product development funding programs are available.  Distribute this information to our members

  • Assist in preparing Missouri for international visitors by advocating product development issues:  signage, currency exchange, translator service, etc.
