The list of representatives and senators that each of the bureau’s has contact with was distributed.  Also distributed was an updated list of members of the Tourism Commission and their contact information.  Randy requested a list of the e-mail addresses of the Commissioners.  Chris Jennings indicated that he would gather that information and pass it along.

Mari Bennett reported that MACVB submitted a Cooperative Marketing Application to the Division of Tourism to re-print the Membership Directory and to establish a MACVB website.  We should know by April 1 if approved and will move forward at that time.   The current membership directories were sent to all of the freshman legislators along with a welcome letter.

CDME Training Update – Joe Donnelly reported a CDME Core and Elective would be held in KC this weekend at the Sheraton Suites on the Plaza.   Marci noted that to receive the MACVB Scholarship each bureau needs to make a copy of their registration form and a copy of the check stub, which paid the entire registration fee.  Send this information to Marci and MACVB will reimburse the individual CVB’s that have paid the full registration to IACVB. Currently there are 17 people enrolled in Leadership Core Class and 15 enrolled in the Technology Elective.  Six bureaus (St. Louis, Branson, Springfield, Randy Fiveash reported that there are bureau executives coming for this course from TX, WI, VA, Scotland, PA, RI.  Randy Fiveash noted that MACVB’s sponsorship of this educational opportunity has been very positive and we need to make sure we stay involved and keep sending staff, etc.  or they may move it to another state.  Marci Bennett reported that MACVB has had inquiries from other state CVB associations regarding our scholarship program.  Randy thanked Joe Donnelly for all of his assistance in making the arrangements.

Marci Bennett reminded everyone that the MACVB Annual Meeting would be held June 11-13, 2001 at the Country Club Resorts and Spa at Lake of the Ozarks.  Currently the sessions which will be offered include website development and evaluation, destination leadership, enhancement of tourism product for small bureaus, designing a special events policy, developing a public relations plan, research and e-mail marketing campaigns.  She noted that a strong effort is being made to include programming, which will appeal to bureaus of all sizes and emerging bureaus.

Deanne and Rob explained the program and asked for input from the membership.  Lots of discussion followed Rob announced that after Governors Conference MMG is going to be conducting the second phase of their Road Show.

John Moore, MO Meetings and Events Magazine presented an update on the progress with the publication.  John reviewed demographics of magazine, it’s scope and that they are actively searching for editorial.  He pointed out that there is a reader survey card and this publication will produce leads for local CVB’s.

Report on Capitol Day.   Marci reported that the event was very well received.   There were lots of positive remarks from the legislators and their staff.  Kathy Lou Toler reported that the final numbers on how many were served were not in but it was well over 500.  Randy Fiveash encouraged everyone to put any comments on the event in writing and send to MB so she can pass on to Pat Amick.  This way we have response and input for planning next year’s events.  Chris Jennings suggested doing a follow up survey to targeted audience  (Legislators) asking them what they thought.

Other Business

Randy went back to the agenda item on TEAMS 2001.   Steve Powell reported that Salt Lake and Chicago, not St. Louis, are being considered for hosting the event in 2001.  The event carries a $30K bid fee.

Steve Powell asked Rob and Deann about Destination Marketing Coop Pool.  He wanted to know how to get media outlets included that are not “audited”, i.e. National Public Radio, Show Me Missouri Magazine, In Flight Magazines.   Deann responded, Coop Program is focusing on research and if there are people on the list that are not audited, it really opens it up to a huge arena.   Deann suggested putting the requests in writing, with research driven results, and submit to Becky Heeren and Bob Frohoff for consideration.

Faye Bleigh made motion to adjourn.  Motion seconded by Steve Powell.  Motion passed.
